Gearoid Lynch bio

Gearoid Lynch

Gearóid Lynch is a native of Drumshanbo, Co.Leitrim. He studied Black/White Film Photography  in San Francisco,California. On returning  to Ireland In 2007 he started to work with digital and colour. In 1999 after visiting the West Bank  on a number of occasions, Gearóid held his first solo Irish exhibition in the Teachers Club Dublin,’’Unlocking Palestine’’depicting the nature and atmosphere of life for the Palestinian people living under Israeli military occupation.

Over the years Gearoid has contributed to various collective exhibitions and publications, and has shown work in several galleries including, The Photographers’ Gallery, London and The Bread and Roses Gallery, New York. To date he has received numerous awards for both his environmental and documentary work.

Gearóid believes his more recent work here reflects a deep rooted, connection and complicated relationship he and many people have with this beautiful yet sometimes harsh environment and society that is rural Ireland today. Through his work he hopes to raise questions, thoughts and stories on various cultural aspects of life, including politics, history and spirituality.
