Orlagh M Murphy began her career as a professional visual artist in 2010. Prior to this she worked as a freelance decorative artist for interiors for many years abroad. Orlagh now lives in a very rural area of Co. Cavan. This has formed the basis for her work to date and is reflected in her paintings of abandoned dwellings, landscapes and school houses throughout Cavan and neighboring Counties. A lot of her inspiration comes from an area of about 4-8sq kilometers comprising of farmland, river, lake and bog land which surround her home. She also produces work from Sligo, Mayo and West Cork, always in a direct response to the seasons.
Orlagh has work in private collections in Ireland, London, USA, Canada and Australia.
