Sligo potter Tom Callery will give an introduction to clay and a little bit on it’s history. He will teach some handbuilding and mould making techniques. At the end of the day participants can take away their work and fire it in either your oven or kiln and with the option of painting it later at home if you wish.

Sligo potter Tom Callery will give an introduction to clay and a little bit on it’s history. He will teach some handbuilding and mould making techniques. At the end of the day participants can take away their work and fire it in either your oven or kiln and with the option of painting it later at home if you wish.
Working from sketches and photographs of river banks,bogs & landscapes, Tom incises these images onto clay forms, and then uses an ancient japanese glazing technique called “raku” which produces an array of rich iridescent colours & hues. Tom supplies galleries in Ireland, UK and the USA.
