Wooden Tea Light Holder
hand turned ash wood
Dimensions: 9 x 5.5 cm
No tree is like another, no two branches are the same, and their grain pattern is a distinctive as finger print. Their shape tells the story of the wind and the weather…
These tealights are hand-turned in County Leitrim from native timber. Roy’s simple, elegant designs will complement any home and bring light to any dark corner.
“Woodturning is a journey of discovery” says Roy, “acquiring the wood and imagining all its possibilities, the turning process itself, removing the turned piece from the lathe and when the wood has been left to dry for a number of months, rediscovering it again – applying oil to the raw surface and seeing the richness and depth of colour and grain spring magically to life”.

I am the 4th generation of the Humphreys family working with wood. I am a self taught woodturner- it started out as as a hobby and has now developed into a business. I have been woodturning for over nearly 20 years now. My studio is based in the converted granary beside my home outside Mohill. I use all native timber sourced mainly from the family farm. The collection of my woodturning products include bowls, little boxes, candle holders, lamps, clocks and other interesting sculpted pieces. I also turn key rings, novelty pens with gift boxes and flower stands. I make nests of tables or other larger pieces to commission, please contact The Leitrim Design House on that.
