A not-for-profit organisation, the Leitrim Design House nurtures Irish craftsmanship and assists small craft & design businesses to develop and showcase their designs. Its flagship gallery has been recommended by the Design & Craft Council of Ireland as one of the leading craft and design outlet in the country and is considered one of the landmark visitor attractions in the region.

The stunning retail space presents a contemporary range of individually handmade items from local and national craft makers. Many of the makers are unique to The Leitrim Design House and produce work specially designed for the gallery. The gallery showcases a distinctive range of Irish made products; fine art, ceramics, glass, limited edition prints, wood, jewellery and textiles.

Established in 2000 by Leitrim County Enterprise Board, the Leitrim Design House initiative has become one of the most progressive craft & design clusters in Ireland and provides a clear example of how the talents of local people can be turned into a viable enterprise. The organisation is funded currently by Pobal and The Department of Rural and Community Development (DRCD) under its Community Services Programme with support from Leitrim County Enterprise Board.

The enterprise occupies a 1200sq ft. unit comprising a dedicated showcase/retail outlet and exhibition facility, on the ground floor of the Dock Arts Centre, Carrick-on-Shannon. The building is wheelchair accessible and has an internal elevator, free Wi-Fi access, free car parking and a coffee shop.
