ABOUT THE LEITRIM DESIGN HOUSE

A not-for-profit organisation, the Leitrim Design House nurtures Irish craftsmanship and assists small craft & design businesses to develop and showcase their designs. Its flagship gallery has been recommended by the Design & Craft Council of Ireland as one of the leading craft and design outlets in the country and is considered one of the landmark visitor attractions in the region.

 

 

Located in the historic quarter of Carrick-on-Shannon in a light filled 19th century building, The Dock art centre,  a landmark attraction overlooking the majestic river Shannon. This stunning retail space presents a contemporary range of individually handmade items from local and national craft makers, a creative haven in the heart of Leitrim. The gallery showcases a distinctive range of Irish made products; fine art, ceramics, glass, limited edition prints, wood, jewellery and textiles. Many of the makers are unique to The Leitrim Design House and produce work specially designed for the gallery.

Established in 2000 by Leitrim County Enterprise Board, the Leitrim Design House initiative has become one of the most progressive craft & design clusters in Ireland. The organisation is funded currently by Pobal and The Department of Rural and Community Development (DRCD) under its Community Services Programme with support from Leitrim County Enterprise Board.
