One of the primary objectives of The Leitrim Design House is the building of a strong future for applied art, craft and design businesses in County Leitrim. Following on from the previous success of The Leitrim Design House collaboration project, CO-CREATE II, has been developed with the aim of furthering this objective through the creation of a bursary which will support collaborations, in County Leitrim. Funded by Creative Ireland under the Creative Communities' Programme and The Design & Crafts Council of Ireland Network Support Scheme. This bursary aims to encourage the exploration of new methodologies, processes, and development of new work. The new valuable addition to this award is access to the extensive Creative Heartlands design equipment, which can be viewed here.
Two collaborative pairs will be selected in phase I of this project, while for phase II one collaborative pair to go on to develop a piece of work that will bring practitioners down a new path, helping them to focus further on expanding their own body of work while possibly adding to the collection at The Leitrim Design House both in store and online. Creatives based in County Leitrim are invited to join partnerships to apply for this bursary. We welcome both preformed partnerships and those looking for a collaborator. While we encourage partnerships to come together organically, The Leitrim Design House will act as an intermediary for those seeking possible partners.
Collaborative partnerships can be formed from any creative discipline e.g. craft makers, designers, visual artists, writers, musicians, dancers, composers, film makers, architects, poets, choreographers etc However, priority will be given to those with one half of the partnership representing the craft sector. Additional priority will be given to future production realisation. All applicants must be established or emerging professional practitioners in their chosen field and be based in Leitrim.
We wish to support the development of new work and new ideas, stimulate innovation via a collaborative process, encourage exploration of alternative mediums and ways of thinking, explore cross-disciplinary opportunities, and seed the development of new ideas that may lead to new work in the future. The maximum amount awarded to any partnership will be €2,000 in phase 1. The total number of awards will not be more than two. In phase II, the maximum award to any partnership is €2,500 and the total number of awards will not be more than one.
