The Leitrim Design House are proud to showcase the vibrant new landscape paintings of Heike Heim on ARTWALL from Saturday 16th of March 2024. Heike is currently based in Co. Sligo, having lived in numerous counties along the wild Atlantic way. Immersion in the western landscapes of Ireland has moulded her perceptions and inevitably found their way into her work, as she states “My Paintings are reflections of an outer and inner landscapes. Impressions gathered on walks and places I have lived in along Ireland’s West coast, linking moods of landscape to moods within us. I let my memory guide me intuitively through a painting. Paint applied with the use of a palette knife give my paintings a spontaneous energy. Interpreting and abstracting the landscape, expressing atmosphere through colour and applying texture to create depth and movement.”
When Heike’s daughter left home to pursue her path in life, Heike decided to do likewise and enrolled in an art & drama course in Limerick, her favourite modules being drawing and painting. This spurred her on to complete a degree in art in GMIT, Galway. She has continued her passion for painting for the past 8 years. Heike’s paintings have since found homes in many private collections and have been showcased in exhibitions around the country, including The Linenhall Art Centre, Mayo, the Hamilton gallery Sligo and the Courthouse gallery in Clare.
