Cruinniú na nÓg is just around the corner, and we're excited to announce this year's festivities: a day of Unraveling Creativity - A Journey into Textile Art with Niki Collier on Saturday June 15th
Morning workshop: Celtic Knots - Hidden Timeless Messages
10.30pm - 12.30pm,10 participants aged 7 – 12 years
Join us at The Leitrim Design House to create your very own Celtic knot using the ancient art of felt making with the highly experienced felt maker and artist Niki Collier. Learn about the intriguing hidden messages of knots and interlacing using some of the finest examples from the Book of Kells.
Niki will share her knowledge about where she gets her materials from, and you will get the opportunity to work these materials, silk and yarn dyed with local plants and local wool, to make your very own creations.This will be a hands on workshops o be sure to wear an old T-shirt or any old clothing, it’ll be a morning filled with stories, artwork and lots of fun!

Homes For Feathered Friends – a family friendly Interactive Demo! Afternoon: 2.30pm – 4.30pm
Children from 2 to 102 are welcome to join us in the afternoon where Niki Collier will be exploring our natural environment with a focus on birdlife habitat. A family event where you will get the chance to observe the artist’s methods of making, while being encouraged to try your hand at some of the processes demonstrated. You’ll learn that we can find inspiration in daily things that surround us! And explore how to create colourful little birds nests.
This is a drop in, interactive demonstration, no booking or experience required, just bring along a curious mind! Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
