The Leitrim Design House helped bring to life to a programme of events and activities in partnership with Carrick Chamber inviting local artists to join the festivities as part of Relaunch Carrick which was conceived to breathe some creativity into the town upon the completion of new pavements in Carrick-on-Shannon. We invited our local Leitrim makers Catherine Gray and Carol McLoughlin to share their master crafting skills with the public.
Calligrapher Carol McLoughlin demonstrated the ancient art of calligraphy and shared some of the skills and secrets of this beautiful art, in the foyer of The Dock Arts Centre. Learn more about Carol and her work here. Carol's work can be viewed and purchased here.
Catherine Gray held court in the Market Yard showcasing how she creates her textile artwork including embellishing and free motion stitching - which she uses to create texture and delicate details in her stunningly colourful landscapes. Various other events took place around the town including a Treasure Hunt, street performers, buskers and more.
