Celebrate Cruinniú na nÓg with our FREE Fused Glass Suncatcher Workshop for children

in News

These glass workshops will be held with craft maker, Michelle Brady, from 11:30am — 1pm and 2.30pm — 4pm on Saturday 6 June for children ages 5 years and upwards.

Book a free spot on this workshop here

Each workshop will start with a pre-cut clear glass base, which participants will be able to decorate with a selection of coloured glass pieces that have been pre-fired, including beads, coloured frits (crushed glass in 2 grades — medium and coarse), and stringers / noodles (thin strands of glass). The artist will then bring all of the works back to her studio to fire, drill holes, wash, sort ribbons and parcel. She will return the finished artworks back to The Leitrim Design House for families to collect.

By creating a colourful glass piece designed to allow light to pass through, participants will explore how light interacts with colour and materials. Michelle Brady brings a calm, focused approach to working with glass, informed by her training as a holistic therapist. This mindful process encourages concentration and creativity, offering children a relaxed and engaging making experience, as well as a sense of achievement when they see their finished suncatcher in use.

For safety reasons, closed-toe shoes must be worn. Long, loose sleeves, scarves, necklaces, or other jewellery that could pose a hazard should not be worn during the workshop.

Admission is free, but places are limited. Booking is essential and can be made via the below link or by phoning 071 9650828.
