Keith Barrie Woodcraft is based in northeast Galway, where Keith works from his home studio creating handmade furniture from hardwood timber.
After a career of more than 20 years maintaining government buildings, Keith is now using his carpentry skills to take a more creative route. His work draws heavily on the rich history of Ireland’s vernacular furniture, particularly in its style and traditional construction techniques.
Each piece is handmade using methods such as mortise and tenon joinery and steam bending. Keith currently works primarily with beech and ash, selecting timber with a focus on quality rather than species. Pieces are finished with wax, polyurethane or paint, with styles available to order in a choice of finishes.
Keith can also accommodate requests for other types of timber, with pricing adjusted where material costs differ.
