Margaret Rattigan Is an Irish Visual Artist based in Boyle, Co Roscommon Ireland.
Margaret was raised in Drumreilly outside Ballinamore in County Leitrim. Margaret is a self-taught artist who has sketched and drawn since she was a child. She had dreams of going to art college after her Leaving Certificate, however, this was not meant for her at this time, growing up as she did during the recession of the Eighties. Instead, like many of her peers and those who had gone before, she emigrated to London where she embarked on a Corporate Retail Management career.
She reignited her love of Art and Painting during the past few years and has been painting and creating ever since, finally bringing her childhood dreams to life.
Margaret finds meaning and inspiration in the scenic views on her doorstep in the northwest of Ireland. She can see extraordinary beauty in her surroundings and loves to seek and find the mystery and magic of our everyday day from hedgerows to skyline; landscape to sea; wildlife to floral.
Margaret expresses the vibrancy of our inner and outer worlds through a strong use of colour. Customers have expressed to her that her art has brought joy and optimism to their home and that her art helps them connect with happy moments and memories.
She loves trying new things and new ways to express her Art and is always looking to learn new techniques. She is excited to finally be on her Artistic Journey and she is living proof that it is never too late to follow your dream.
Margaret’s work has been featured at Boyle Arts Festival and Solas Art Gallery in Ballinamore. Margaret loves to paint in all mediums and has a preference for Acrylic. Margaret has a selection of Fine Art Limited Edition prints in the Leitrim design house.
