Catherine Patrickson is an Irish visual artist working primarily with gouache, watercolour and inks.
She grew up in Counties Leitrim and Roscommon and then lived in Belfast for a number of years before moving to East Galway. For her, a relationship with a new place is formed slowly, with a vocabulary of symbolic imagery being gleaned through walking and immersing oneself in the landscape. This allows the natural landscape to be overlaid with, and expressive of, the emotional life of the individual in response to the everyday politics of existence.
Catherine holds an Hons. Degree in Fine Art from the University of Ulster at Belfast and has exhibited her work throughout Ireland and abroad.
