Ruth Power is an artist, designer, maker and travel lover who graduated from the National College of Art and Design in 2011, and set up DANU ceramics in 2015. Danu was the ancient Celtic Goddess of earth and creativity and the Hindi Goddess of water - 3 elements which are fundamental to the creation of ceramics.
“My tagline is - Made in Ireland, inspired by a journey. Much of my work is inspired by my travels. I have ranges inspired by visits to India, France, Indonesia and Turkey. My gold decal work using ferns, insects and feathers is informed by the Victorian naturalist, explorer and geographer Alfred Russel Wallace who contributed enormously to the theory of evolution. He made thousands of drawing of different insects and other specimens".
The Danu ceramic jewellery collection has an understated elegance. Deep, luxurious glazes are used. Ruth specialises in ceramic homewares and jewellery. She designs and creates every piece from her studio in Dublin. The designs are enriched with patterns created from found objects obtained whilst traveling, such as antique textile stamps and fallen coconut shells. Each piece is a handcrafted beauty, and these ceramic dishes and fine jewellery are stunning additions to your home. Objects to be treasured, worn and used for precious items and occasions.
